bernese mountain dog

bernese mountain dog

Backstage in a cool, dark room, and her boyfriend can take a cup Kizmet winks years, surrounded by colleagues Superdogs dozing in their boxes comfortable.Everything is quiet. Then Garnett Tracy wakes up and takes his two mutts Kizmet, a dog of three years, Pharaoh, and cup, a child of six miniature Italian greyhound, apart from the construction of "Big Four" for a quick pee.
Once back inside, Kizmet begins to bark and Beaker positively vibrates with anticipation as they see the jumps, hoops and stands being set up for the first evening's performance. It's show time! They just love it," says Garnett, a Calgarian who owns four pooches and works at Superdogs Spectrum, a local training facility and doggy day care when she's not touring with the show (her fifth season). She got hooked on Superdogs as a kid attending Stampede.

On Thursday, Herald photographer Leah Hennel and I got a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at a dress rehearsal to meet owner-trainers like Garnett, the show founder and, yes, the furry stars of Superdogs. It quickly becomes evident that the running, jumping, fetching athletes are not circus animals. They're beloved family pets who live at home with canine-crazy owners willing to put in the vast amount of training time it takes to turn all sizes and shapes of Heinz 57s and purebreds into "the best in show.
