In the early morning of Sunday, May 16, 2010, an earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale, in Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rico Seismic Network in a tsunami warning out after the earthquake. Geologist Giseela Baez, reporting to Caracol Radio, said that two roads were hit by a landslide, but so far no citizen were injured, as you know. Baez saidThe epicenter of the Puerto Rico earthquake was found eight miles northeast of Mayagüez, and 108 miles west of San Juan, Puerto Rico’s capital. Hundreds of people, including late-night partiers, gathered in the main square of the Mayagüez province after the quake, while relief agencies started to make rounds to the different cities and provinces to check for damages and casualties. The earthquake was also felt in Patillas, Guayama, Santa Isabel, Humacao, Ceiba, Fajardo and Rio Grande. Many of these places lost power, but no injuries or casualties have been reported.
