CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The Channel 3 Storm Alert Team is monitoring a developing weather situation for SundayThe National Weather Service office in Morristown, Tennessee has issued a FLASH FLOOD WATCH from Noon EDT Sunday through Monday morning.watchmeansconditions make flooding possible. A warning means flooding is happening or is imminentThe flash flood watch applies to the following Tennessee counties in the Channel 3 viewing area: Bledsoe, Hamilton, Marion, Meigs, Rhea, and Sequatchie CountiesWidespread rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches is expected. Hourly rainfall rates may exceed two inches which will result in a threat of dangerous flash flooding and hiking trails will likely become impassable.
A flash flood watch means conditions may develop that lead to a flash flood warning. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should stay informed and be ready for quick action if flooding is observed. If you come to a closed or flooded road, remember the saying: "Turn around! Don't drownThe heavy rainfall is expected to begin Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday. This major spring weather system over the Tennessee Valley will move into the Southern Appalachians tonight. Strong thunderstorm will produce heavy rainfall as the system moves eastward. While rainfall will range from 2-4 inches, locally higher amounts are possible
